Shemot (Exodus): Shemot > Ch 2
Moses is born. His mother saves him by leaving the newborn in a basket by the Nile. Pharaoh’s daughter finds Moses and raises him.
A boy was born. His parents were from the house of Levi. After hiding the boy for 3 months, his mother placed him in a basket and put it into the marsh at the Nile’s edge. His sister stood from afar, to know what would be done to him.
Pharaoh’s daughter went to bathe in the Nile and found the boy. The boy's sister told her that a Hebrew woman can nurse him and so the boy’s real mother was actually with him until he grew up. Pharaoh’s daughter named him Moses, and she said, "For I drew him from the water."

Reuel invited Moses to stay and gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses. She bore a son and Moses named him Gershom, for he said, "I was a stranger in a foreign land".
